Chapter 25 - Sophie chooses a school

The next academic year approached.
Sophie needed middle-school placement.
Daniel proposed local private day school.
Victoria proposed another day school closer to her home.
Neither boarding.
Progress.
Sophie toured both.
Liked one with strong art program.
It happened to be Daniel’s second choice and Victoria’s first.
Daniel hesitated.
Then said:
“If she likes it, that matters.”
Victoria looked almost surprised.
They agreed.
No court ruling.
No winner.
Then Victoria asked:
“Can I handle application?”
Daniel said:
“We handle it together.”
She paused.
Then:
“Fine.”
The word was strained.
But she complied.
No altered order.
No unilateral deposit.
No false authority.
Behavior, not apology.
Sophie noticed.
Later she told therapist:
May you like
“Mom asked Dad first.”
That sentence mattered more than any speech.
