Chapter 11 - I confront Ronan legally

Everyone expected me to call Ronan.
Invite him somewhere.
Settle it privately.
I did not.
I handed the archive to my attorneys.
They contacted the authorities already responsible for Seraphina’s cold case.
Ronan learned through counsel.
Not through me.
He called anyway.
I answered once.
“Orson.”
“Ronan.”
“This is not what it looks like.”
The same useless sentence.
I said:
“You were at her funeral.”
Silence.
“I carried her coffin.”
“Yes.”
“You stood beside Tilly.”
“I know.”
Then:
“I never ordered her killed.”
“Tell the investigators.”
“Orson—”
May you like
I hung up.
That was the last private conversation we ever had.
