Chapter 10 - The Unbroken Circle

The morning light began to pour through the floor-to-ceiling windows of St. Jude's Hospital as the police and loyal Moretti security cleared the building.

The storm had passed, leaving a crisp, brilliant blue sky over the city.

Inside the quiet isolation room of the NICU, Claire carefully picked up Baby Miller from his crib. The baby was warm, safe, and completely unharmed, sleeping peacefully in his soft cream blanket.

The heavy glass door opened.

Sebastian walked into the room. Standing beside him was a fourteen-year-old boy wearing a blue volunteer scrub shirt. The boy had thick dark hair, sharp intelligent eyes, and the exact same rugged jawline as the crime boss standing beside him.

His name was Leo—the volunteer intern who had worked alongside Claire in the NICU for the past six months.

Leo stood frozen, staring at Sebastian with wide, uncertain eyes, holding the yellowed medical record that proved his true identity.

"Leo..." Sebastian whispered, his voice cracking with pure, unadulterated emotion. The powerful mafia boss, feared by the entire city, fell to his knees in front of the fourteen-year-old boy.

Sebastian reached out with trembling, tattooed hands, gently touching his long-lost son's shoulder.

Leo looked down at the faded newborn hospital bracelet resting beneath Sebastian’s luxury watch—the bracelet that matched the serial number printed on his own birth record.

Tears welled up in Leo’s eyes as the realization washed over him. "You... you searched for me?"

"Every single day of my life, son," Sebastian choked out, pulling Leo into a powerful, emotional embrace.

Claire stood nearby, tears streaming down her face as she held Baby Miller securely against her chest. She watched the father and son hold each other after fourteen long years of separation and grief.

A few minutes later, Sebastian stood up, turning toward Claire. He walked over and gently wrapped his broad arm around her shoulders, looking down at the sleeping newborn in her arms.

"You saved both of my sons, Claire," Sebastian said softly, his dark eyes filled with deep gratitude and an unspoken warmth. "My family owes you a debt that can never be repaid."

"I just did my job, Sebastian," Claire replied with a gentle smile. "Keeping babies safe."

Sebastian looked down at Baby Miller, then at Leo, and finally at Claire. A rare, breathtaking smile spread across his rugged face.

"Starting today, things change," Sebastian declared softly. "I'm stepping away from the syndicate. I'm endowing a new pediatric wing at St. Jude's named after your father... and I want you to run it, Claire."

Claire looked up into his intense, handsome face, feeling a spark of hope and connection that went far deeper than she had ever expected.

"I'd love that, Sebastian," she whispered.

Just then, Sebastian’s phone vibrated in his pocket. He pulled it out, looking at an incoming encrypted message from an unknown number:

“Congratulations on finding your sons, Moretti. But you still don't know who paid the surrogate for Baby Miller...”

Sebastian stared at the glowing screen, his jaw setting into a firm, resolute line. He looked at Claire and his two boys, knowing that while new secrets were waiting in the shadows, his family was finally complete—and he would burn the world to protect them.
