Chapter 8 - The Breach in the Ward
While Sebastian and Claire were inside the bank vault, a sudden storm hit St. Jude’s Hospital.
Back on the third floor, the main power grid of the hospital flickered and died, plunging the NICU into red emergency backup lighting.
Inside the ward, a group of armed men dressed in dark tactical gear pushed through the service elevators, bypassing the outer security perimeter. They were led by Julian Valenti—the ruthless underboss of the Valenti syndicate.
"Find the Miller baby!" Julian commanded in a harsh whisper. "Take the infant before Moretti gets back!"
The backup generators hummed loudly, but the nursery alarms were blaring.
Fortunately, Claire had anticipated the danger before leaving for the bank. She had instructed her senior night nurse to move Baby Miller out of the main nursery and place him in a hidden, soundproof isolation suite behind the scrub room.
Inside the bank vault miles away, Sebastian’s phone vibrated violently.
He answered it immediately. "Speak."
"Boss! The hospital grid was sabotaged!" his head guard reported over the static-heavy line. "Valenti’s men breached the third floor!"
Sebastian’s expression transformed into pure, terrifying rage. His eyes burned with a dark, lethal fire.
"Hold the line," Sebastian thundered into the phone. "I’m coming back."

He turned to Claire, grabbing his suit jacket. "They're at the hospital."
Claire didn't hesitate. "I'm coming with you. I know every hidden passageway and security bypass in that building!"
