Chapter 10 - The real plan

By the tenth chapter, investigators could finally distinguish what Amanda planned from what I feared.

She did not intend to take title to my house.

She did not plan to empty it permanently.

She did not expect a marriage certificate to give her legal ownership of my premarital property.

She planned something more practical.

Use the wedding to create trusted access.

The mechanism had six parts.

First:

For months, Amanda inserted herself into legitimate wedding-related household logistics.

Designers.

Florists.

Storage.

Furniture movement.

Security schedules.

That made outside crews normal.

Second:

She photographed selected high-value objects and sent them to Julian Cross for appraisal and buyer interest.

Third:

She created a forged Post-Wedding Interior Reset Authorization using my copied signature.

Its purpose was not to transfer ownership.

It was to convince staff and movers that removal was authorized.

Fourth:

She arranged four days after the ceremony when:

I would be overseas.

Sophie would stay with my mother.

The house manager would be away.

Reduced security would expect vendors.

Fifth:

Movers would remove selected objects under the stated purpose:

Photography.

Condition reports.

Temporary storage.

Some would go to Cross & Vale facilities.

Others to a commercial storage unit.

Sixth:

Julian would move the easiest pieces into private-sale channels quickly.

Amanda expected proceeds to cover urgent debt before I understood what had happened.

Then Phase 2.

If Phase 1 succeeded, Amanda intended to target:

Watches.

Wine.

Smaller collectibles.

Not because they were easier initially.

Because their disappearance would be noticed faster.

The first wave was designed to look like a legitimate redesign long enough for money to clear.

Did Julian know the authorization was forged?

Evidence was mixed.

Amanda told him repeatedly:

“Daniel approved the reset concept.”

He questioned ownership but accepted the document.

One later message mattered:

Julian:

If this blows up, I’m going to say you represented authority.

Amanda:

Then don’t let it blow up.

That made him look reckless.

Not necessarily knowing.

Then motive:

Amanda owed approximately $1.86 million tied to the hotel investment and private credit.

She had hidden the losses because she believed I would cancel the wedding if I learned she had lied about her finances.

The scheme was not romantic betrayal.

No lover.

No secret second family.

It was debt, image, access, and a belief that becoming my wife would make everyone stop asking whether she had permission.

Sophie broke the plan because she found the phone before the marriage gave Amanda the social cover she was counting on.

And Amanda hit her because, in that moment, she cared more about protecting the plan than protecting the child she was supposed to join a family with.
