Chapter 16 - My own staff failed too

I wanted to blame Amanda for everything.
Then internal review showed my household systems were careless.
Wedding pressure had created:
Temporary vendor lists.
Shared digital folders.
Reduced callback requirements.
Delegated approvals.
My assistant had told security:
“Amanda can approve routine household changes through honeymoon week.”
Why?
Because I told him:
“Stop bothering me with every chair and flower.”
That sentence became operational policy.
My fault.
Not theft.
But vulnerability.
Then the authorization threshold.
House manager usually called me before anything over $50,000 left property.
Amanda requested temporary suspension because:
“Daniel doesn’t want valuation discussions before wedding.”
Evelyn Hart accepted without written approval from me.
Failure.
I did not fire her.
We changed controls.
No property removal without direct dual verification.
Wedding or no wedding.
Spouse or no spouse.
May you like
Familiar vendor or no.
Systems should not depend on guessing who can be trusted.
