Chapter 12 - The movers

Police interviewed the moving company.

Brighton Fine Art Logistics.

Legitimate.

Highly insured.

They had received:

Work order.

Inventory.

Access authorization.

Property address.

Instructions.

Pickup:

Monday, 8:30 a.m.

Destination:

Cross & Vale warehouse.

Secondary destination:

Stonebridge Climate Storage.

Did they know anything illegal?

No.

Their coordinator had asked:

“Owner present?”

Amanda answered:

“Newlyweds out of country. Signed access attached.”

Normal.

Then the house manager.

Evelyn Hart said:

“Amanda told me Monday pickup was for post-wedding photography.”

“Did you question?”

“No. Furniture had been moving all month.”

That was exactly why the scheme might have worked.

No masked burglars.

No broken windows.

A truck with insurance certificates.

Men in gloves.

Clipboards.
