Chapter 15 - Julian’s choice

Julian Cross received a target letter.
His attorney negotiated.
He agreed to provide:
Full message history.
Buyer contacts.
Draft consignment documents.
Warehouse instructions.
Internal notes.
In exchange, prosecutors considered lesser treatment if evidence showed he had not known the signature was forged.
Then one email damaged him.
His operations manager wrote:
We usually confirm owner consent directly on third-party residential removals above $250K. Should I call Mercer’s office?
Julian replied:
No. Amanda says it’s sensitive wedding timing. Keep it quiet.
Why ignore standard control?
He wanted commission.
Potential fees:
10% to 15%.
On $2 million:
A lot.
Not necessarily proof he knew theft.
Proof he ignored risk.
Eventually he accepted responsibility for attempted handling of property under suspicious authorization and compliance failures, with a cooperation agreement.
