Chapter 15 - My Parents’ Philosophy

Dad believed money should flow toward:
“where the family needs it most.”
That sounds generous.
It was not applied evenly.
When I was twenty-four and needed $4,000 after an emergency car repair, Dad loaned it to me at 3% interest.
I paid every dollar back.
When Natalie’s event business had a difficult quarter, Mom gave her $18,000.
No repayment.
When I questioned the difference:
“She needs more support than you.”
That became the family pattern.
Rachel is responsible.
Natalie is vulnerable.
Therefore Rachel’s competence becomes a resource.
My stability became a family asset everyone felt entitled to redistribute.
