Chapter 17 - The trust board refuses my order

I wanted Sabella removed from every family role immediately.

She held no executive office.

But she sat on the hospitality foundation board and two family-event committees.

I called the trust chair.

“Remove her.”

The chair was Eleanor Pike.

Seventy.

Former judge.

She said:

“No.”

I stared at the phone.

“What?”

“You may request review.”

“I am requesting removal.”

“You are not the board.”

That sentence should have made me angry.

It made me stop.

Old Draven would have interpreted no as challenge.

Newer Draven heard structure.

“What do you need?”

“Written allegations. Conflict disclosure. Independent vote.”

“Fine.”

The board met.

Sabella was suspended from foundation activity pending investigation.

Later removed from the hospitality foundation because her treatment of Oren conflicted with safeguarding obligations and because she had misrepresented family-status information during trust discussions.

Not because Draven commanded it.

Better.

The system resisted me.

That was a sign it might actually work.
