Chapter 25 - The trust changes

The Sinclair Family Stewardship Trust modernization passed two years after the banquet.
The descendant-verification system remained for a narrow set of hereditary voting provisions because completely restructuring old property interests required beneficiary consent we did not have.
But the family council changed.
No seats reserved for children.
No grooming children as heirs.
Eligibility began at twenty-five.
Independent governance training required.
Adopted and legally recognized children received expanded participation rights.
Biology no longer determined every category.
Why?
Because watching Adrian become socially downgraded by a DNA report exposed how primitive the structure was.
Inheritance law can distinguish biological lines for specific reasons.
Families do not need to build emotional caste systems around it.
I stepped down as council chair after the transition.
Eleanor Pike replaced me temporarily until elections.
One uncle said:
“You’re giving away authority.”
“No.”
“What do you call it?”
“Making authority survive me.”
He hated that.

Good sign.
