Chapter 79

The private jet climbed smoothly through the crisp, clear morning skies above Austria, leaving the snow-covered spires of Vienna far behind.

Inside the luxurious cabin, the heavy atmosphere of war had completely dissolved, replaced by a profound, reverent serenity. Sophia sat in a leather armchair, cradling Elena’s silver music box in her lap. The faint, melancholic melody played softly through the cabin, but it no longer sounded like a cry of grief. It sounded like an elegy of triumph.

"Where will you keep it, sweetheart?" Maya asked gently, kneeling beside Sophia’s chair and smoothing a stray curl from the girl's forehead.

Sophia looked up, her brown eyes shining with peaceful clarity. "In my studio in Florence, right beside her portrait. She fought for ten years in the dark so that I could live in the sun. I’m never going to hide from her memory again. And I’m never going to be afraid."

Dante walked over, his dark eyes brimming with unshed tears. He rested a broad, calloused hand on Sophia’s head, leaning down to press a deep, loving kiss to her brow. For a decade, the ghost of Elena’s disappearance had been a bleeding wound across their lives. Now, the truth was out, the monsters were imprisoned, and Elena’s soul could finally rest in peace.

"Thank you, Maya," Sophia whispered, reaching out to grasp Maya’s hand tightly. "For saving my dad, and for saving me."

"You saved us too, Sophia," Maya replied, her voice breaking with emotion as she pulled the girl into a warm embrace. "From the very first night at Bellanote."

Dante wrapped his arms around both of them, his heart swelling with an overwhelming gratitude that words could never capture. The jet banked south, crossing the snow-capped Alps, descending toward the rolling green hills and golden sun of Tuscany. The shadow war was over. The blood debt was erased. They were finally going home.
