Chapter 19 - The engagement ends legally, not theatrically

No wedding.
No negotiation.
The engagement was over.
Seraphina had property at my home.
Clothes.
Jewelry.
Furniture.
Personal records.
I did not dump everything onto the street.
Her attorney arranged retrieval.
Inventory.
Supervised collection.
Items genuinely hers left with her.
Items disputed remained with counsel pending agreement.
I had given her:
Jewelry.
A car.
Several expensive gifts.
Completed gifts remained hers unless law said otherwise.
I did not reclaim them because she hurt me.
That surprised several relatives.
One asked:
“You’re letting her keep the Bentley?”
“It was a gift.”
“She locked your daughter under stairs.”
“Yes.”
“And?”
May you like
“Property law did not participate.”
He stopped asking.
