Chapter 8 - Seraphina had been collecting material

The production company was real.
Reputable enough.
It had produced investigative documentaries and celebrity biographies.
Its executives did not know Seraphina was abusing a child.
They believed she had:
Authorized access.
Family cooperation likely forthcoming.
Unique historical materials.
She had approached them six months earlier through an agent.
Her pitch:
She was Maximilian Rourke’s future wife.
She had access to the Rourke family archive.
She could help tell:
A multigenerational story of power, organized crime, legitimate business, reform, violence, and succession.
Some of those topics were public record.
Others were not.
Seraphina claimed she could obtain:
Private family photographs.
Historic business ledgers.
Old correspondence.
Audio recordings.
Home access.
Interviews with relatives.

Potential cooperation from me.
I had promised none of that.
