Chapter 10 - Easter Was Supposed to Become Evidence

Investigators recovered messages between Ethan and Margaret from that morning.

Margaret:

Emily seems upset.

Ethan:

She called him.

Margaret:

Richard?

Ethan:

Probably.

Then:

Good.

That one word frightened me.

Good.

Why good?

Another message ten minutes later.

Ethan:

If he comes here angry, do not interfere.

Margaret:

Ethan, this is getting out of hand.

Ethan:

We need everyone to see what he is.

Margaret:

What if Emily tells him?

Ethan:

She always changes the story once he gets involved.

Then, after Dad’s truck appeared on the live camera:

Ethan:

He’s coming.

That was the last message before the confrontation.

I had believed Easter became chaotic accidentally.

The violence against me was real.

The punch from Dad was spontaneous.

But Ethan had anticipated Dad’s arrival.

And he believed that arrival could become useful.
