Chapter 12 - Ryan knew I was reporting

Three days before the baton incident, I told Ryan:
“I have to disclose this.”
He said:
“Disclose what?”
“Your mother’s ownership connection.”
“You knew she owned property.”
“Not that CFL was billing the government through it.”
“So?”
“You never disclosed related-party control.”
“She doesn’t control CFL.”
“That’s not the only standard.”
He became furious.
“You’re going to destroy my company over paperwork.”
There it was.
Paperwork.
A word people use when the document is inconvenient.
I said:
“If it’s harmless, independent reviewers will determine that.”
He replied:
“You sound like your father.”
I almost laughed.
Dad hated paperwork.
But Ryan meant something else.
