Chapter 12 - Harbor Crest learns the truth

I did not call Pierce’s investors.
That would have been revenge.
Pierce did.
His company counsel told him he needed to disclose that:
A scheduled family demonstration was canceled.
A child-safety incident occurred at associated beach outing.
No investors were endangered.
No project defect involved.
But because the event was part of investor diligence, concealment would be worse.
Pierce told Harbor Crest:
“My son has a significant water fear. I incorrectly represented his comfort level on an internal activity form because I wanted him included in tomorrow’s demonstration. I have withdrawn him.”
One partner asked:
“Why on earth would your son need to be in our investment decision?”
Pierce said:
“He didn’t.”
