Chapter 24 - The first return to sand

Seven months after the incident, Cade agreed to visit a different beach.
No Lenora.
No investors.
No company.
No photographers.
Just us.
He wore his life vest.
Even though he planned to stay on dry sand.
Nobody commented.
Pierce carried:
Towels.
Water.
Umbrella.
Not expectations.
Cade built a runway for toy airplanes.
After an hour he walked toward wet sand.
Stopped when foam reached his shoes.
Then stepped backward.
Pierce said nothing.
Cade looked at him.
“Aren’t you going to say good job?”
Pierce smiled.
“Do you want me to?”
“Yes.”
“Good job.”
Cade grinned.
May you like
Choice.
Even praise worked better when asked for.
