Chapter 18 - Melissa says the surplus was compensation

Melissa’s explanation:
She deserved compensation for managing my life.
She had:
Scheduled doctors occasionally.
Picked up prescriptions.
Managed contractors.
Coordinated house repairs.
Bought groceries.
Prepared guest room.
Handled household accounting.
True.
She said:
“I was effectively providing concierge services.”
Fine.
Then why not tell me the fee?
Her invoices did contain:
Household administration.
But the amount varied and was buried.
A professional service arrangement requires clearer understanding than:
I charged whatever I thought my labor was worth.
Her company valuation of services:
$1,200 to $1,800 monthly.
Independent local-market estimate:
For actual tasks documented, closer to:
$400 to $750 monthly on average.
Some months more.
Some less.
Again:
Not zero.
Melissa had done work.
