Chapter 7 - Brian claims I agreed

Brian hired a lawyer.
Not because I sued him immediately.
Because the bank disputes threatened Melissa’s merchant account and money.
His lawyer sent mine a letter.
Position:
Walter voluntarily contributed to household expenses.
Walter benefited from housing.
Walter knew costs increased.
Walter received meals, utilities, transportation, cleaning, and use of property.
Walter made repeated payments without objection.
Some strong points.
People can agree by conduct.
Long-term payments matter.
Then my signed authorization.
The lawyer produced it.
Same document.
$1,500 monthly maximum unless additional services separately approved.
No later signed amendment.
Then Melissa’s lawyer argued:
“Additional services were orally approved.”
By whom?
Me.
When?
“Throughout the relationship.”
Evidence?
Texts.
Melissa:
Roof repair went up. Is it okay if household expenses are higher this month?
Me:
Sure.
That could support one increase.
Another:
Big utility month. I’ll settle through household account.
Me:
Fine.
Again.
Not proof I agreed to a permanent $5,000-plus monthly charge.

But not nothing.
The case would require detail.
