Chapter 8 - The house down payment

The insults became worse when Sonia reconstructed my prior transfers.
Brian and Melissa bought the house five years earlier.
Purchase price:
$465,000.
Down payment:
$93,000.
Where did it come from?
Brian:
$28,000.
Melissa:
$15,000.
Me:
$50,000.
Gift.
Properly documented.
I did not own part of the house.
I did not expect repayment.
It was a gift to my son.
Important.
Then closing costs.
I paid:
$7,800.
Gift.
Then two years later:
HVAC replacement.
I gave:
$11,000.
Gift.
Then kitchen remodel.
I contributed:
$17,500.
Again, not ownership.
Could I now demand every gift back because they humiliated me?
No.
A gift remains a gift.
