Chapter 20 - The Judge
The court denied immediate relocation.
Not forever.
For that school year.
Why?
The move plan relied partly on claims of behavioral necessity that independent evidence did not support.
The judge wanted more stability before changing states.
Vanessa was angry.
Understandably.
Daniel delayed accepting the Seattle position.
The company eventually allowed hybrid work for several months.
No one was trapped forever.
The judge said something important:
“This ruling is not a declaration that grandparents outrank parents.”
I appreciated that.
Then:
“It is a finding that this particular relocation record does not presently establish that disrupting the child’s existing relationships is in her best interests.”
Specific.
Not mythology.
No one won Lily.
