Chapter 26 - Constance sees him again

Nine months after the incident.
Neutral family therapist’s office.
Twenty minutes.
Constance sat across from Perry.
No presents.
She said:
“I’m sorry I locked you in the laundry room.”
Perry held his dinosaur.
“Daddy said to.”
Reid was not in room.
Constance paused.
“He told me I could use the latch if you kept coming out.”
“That means lock.”
“Yes.”
Then:
“But I chose to do it.”
Good.
Perry asked:
“Why?”
“Because I thought being quiet was more important than you being scared.”
His eyes narrowed.
“That’s bad.”
“Yes.”
Then:
“Will you lock me?”
“No.”
“Any door?”
“No.”
He looked at therapist.
Then back to Constance.
“Okay.”
No hug.
