Chapter 24 - Heather asks David for forgiveness

David met Heather once.

Public restaurant.

I did not go.

He came home afterward.

“How was it?”

“Bad.”

“What did she say?”

“She said she was jealous.”

“Of what?”

“You.”

That surprised me.

Heather believed after David married me:

He visited less.

Called less.

Spent holidays differently.

Then Louisa was born.

Lydia and Walter adored her.

Heather felt replaced.

Not financially.

Emotionally.

Then the trust conversation gave resentment a target.

None of this excused anything.

But it made sense of the irrationality.

People sometimes use property disputes to express emotional injuries they cannot admit.
