Chapter 6 - What they did before I arrived
The footage did not show the stone wall outside.
Different camera.
But it showed what happened inside first.
Lydia confronted Louisa again.
“Tell me where it is.”
Louisa:
“I don’t know.”
Walter:
“Enough babying.”
Heather stood near the stairs.
Phone in hand.
Watching.
Then Lydia said:
“If she wants to behave like a thief, maybe she needs to remember this.”
I watched her take electric clippers from a bathroom cabinet.
My stomach turned.
Louisa began crying before Lydia even switched them on.
Heather said:
“Mom, don’t.”
That mattered.
She did say it.
But softly.
Too softly.
Then she stepped back.
Did nothing.
Lydia shaved Louisa’s hair.
Not perfectly.
Not violently against her scalp.
Still degrading.
Still terrifying.
Walter later tied the scarf around Louisa’s wrists and took her outside.
