Chapter 5 - The hidden camera

The camera looked like a small white charging cube.
It sat on a bookshelf in the family room.
Lydia knew about it.
At least originally.
I had told her:
“It lets me check on Louisa if she naps here.”
She said:
“Fine.”
Then months passed.
Everyone forgot.
I mostly forgot too.
The app usually stayed closed.
That morning it sent an alert because someone had moved close enough to trigger motion detection.
I was getting dressed.
I ignored it.
Then another alert.
Then another.
At 7:12, I heard a voicemail from Louisa’s tablet account.
Nothing but crying.
That was when I drove over.
May you like
I did not watch the camera footage until after I got Louisa into my car.
I wish I had watched sooner.
