Chapter 22 - Mina’s wheelchair becomes hers again
After the fall, Mina refused to use that wheelchair.
Not because it was damaged.
Because Veronica had pulled her from it.
The chair felt unsafe.
Her physical therapist did something smart.
Did not force her back immediately.
Mina used a backup chair.
Then we let her customize the original.
New spoke guards.
Different cushion cover.
A tiny lavender star decal near one wheel.
Same frame.
Her choice.
One afternoon she transferred into it voluntarily.
Rolled down hallway.
Stopped.
Then said:
“Mine.”
“Yes.”
That mattered.
A wheelchair is not something done to a child.
It is part of how she moves through her world.
