Chapter 26 - Mina’s sixth birthday

No ballroom.
No tuxedos.
No senior associates.
Mina wanted:
An aquarium.
Cupcakes.
Her school friends.
A magician who was apparently terrible at actual magic but excellent at making six-year-olds scream.
She wore a yellow dress.
Used her wheelchair all day.
At lunch she accidentally bumped the table.
A paper cup fell.
She froze.
I saw it.
For one second she was back at the wedding.
I picked up the cup.
“That table attacked you.”
She stared.
Then laughed.
Another child said:
“My brother spills everything.”
Conversation moved on.
That was healing.
May you like
Not forgetting.
A new outcome attached to an old trigger.
