Chapter 6 - There was no merger

To be clear:
Marriage does not automatically merge two families’ companies.
Not legally.
Not financially.
Not because old Mafia families like dramatic language.
My legitimate holdings sat inside:
Lucchesi Capital Group.
Hotels.
Warehouses.
Logistics.
Commercial property.
Food distribution.
Security technology.
Veronica owned no shares.
Greta owned no shares.
Marriage would not change that.
So what was this “Strategic Family Consolidation”?
A proposal.
Not executed.
Prepared by consultants Greta had hired.
It assumed that after the wedding:
Veronica would become a trustee of certain future family structures.
Greta’s investment office would provide capital to refinance several Lucchesi assets.
Two Crane companies would receive preferred vendor status.
A new philanthropic foundation would combine family charitable activities.
And several governance seats would be “harmonized.”

I had agreed to none of it.
Someone had been building a transaction around my marriage without the groom.
