Chapter 8 - Greta had been meeting my lenders

My CFO, Daniel Price, brought me a list.

Greta Crane had spoken with two banks involved in Lucchesi refinancing.

Not as my representative.

She was careful about that.

She described herself as:

“Prospective family capital partner.”

She asked general questions about:

Debt maturities.

Refinancing windows.

Cross-collateral structures.

Succession planning.

One banker disclosed nothing confidential.

Another sent her publicly available and client-approved presentation materials because she was already a known investor.

Nothing criminal there.

But Greta was clearly studying my balance sheet.

Why?

Because several of my real estate assets had debt maturing over the next eighteen months.

Normal for commercial property.

Greta saw leverage.

Not illegal leverage.

Negotiating leverage.

She believed she could become financially useful at precisely the moment marriage made her daughter socially indispensable.
