Chapter 20

The Caldwell estate had been transformed into a harrowing war zone. The majestic iron gates were crumpled ruins, and the blazing wreckage of the delivery truck cast a flickering, hellish orange glow across the manicured lawns. The syndicate’s mercenaries were currently pouring heavy suppressive fire onto the West Wing, desperately trying to carve their way into the safe room.

"Bring up the plasma cutters! Hurry!" The squad commander, a man in a black suit with a crescent moon scar on his neck, bellowed his orders. He was 'The Cleaner'—the operative who had directly manipulated Vance and Sabrina.

At that exact moment, an SUV roared up the driveway at a blistering speed, crashing violently into the flank of the mercenary formation gathered before the grand entrance. The impact launched three gunmen into the air.

Grace threw open her door, executed a flawless combat roll across the granite steps, and immediately opened fire with her MP5. She moved like a phantom of death, her rounds striking the enemy’s weak points with devastating precision. The mercenaries panicked and returned fire, but Grace’s incredible agility and mastery of cover threw their formation into complete chaos.

Ethan charged out from the passenger side, providing heavy covering fire, allowing Grace to push deeper into the mansion.

"Mr. Caldwell! Go!" Grace yelled, tossing him a spare magazine before turning and sprinting up the grand staircase toward the West Wing, where 'The Cleaner' was currently ordering his men to breach Lily’s door.

In the night sky above, the heavy thrum of helicopter rotors shook the air. Matteo’s heavily armed corporate extraction teams had arrived, shining blinding spotlights down onto the grounds and fast-roping onto the roof. The tide of the battle instantly turned.

In the second-floor hallway, Grace came face-to-face with 'The Cleaner'. Realizing he was trapped, he discarded the heavy plasma cutter and drew a serrated tactical combat knife and a pistol.

"You're the maid who ruined everything," he snarled, his eyes burning with hatred.

"And I’ll be the one who finishes it," Grace replied coldly, dropping her empty MP5. She drew a lethal combat blade from her boot, dropping into a perfect, balanced fighting stance for the final confrontation.

The assassin lunged with blinding speed, slashing the knife toward Grace’s throat. But she had anticipated the angle perfectly. Relying on elite martial arts mastery forged in special operations, she slipped sideways, parried his wrist with a punishing block, and delivered a devastating spinning heel kick directly to his ribs.

The assassin stumbled but quickly raised his pistol to fire. Grace flipped backward, dodging the lethal rounds by mere inches. Capitalizing on his momentary loss of balance, she surged forward, kicked the gun from his hand, and trapped him in a flawless joint lock, slamming him face-first into the hardwood floor and wrenching his arm behind his back.

"Game over," Grace stated coldly, driving her knee into his spine, entirely neutralizing the threat.

The heavy steel door of the safe room slowly hissed open. Ethan walked in, dropping his weapon. He rushed forward and embraced Lily, who was sobbing uncontrollably with pure joy. Thomas stood behind them, letting out a massive sigh of relief and lowering his revolver.

"Daddy! Grace!" Lily wrapped her arms tightly around Ethan's neck, then looked up with tear-filled, wide eyes at the brave woman standing victorious in the smoke-filled hallway.

The first light of dawn began to break across the distant horizon, piercing through the shattered glass windows and casting a warm, golden sunlight into the Caldwell estate. The battle was over. The scheming, greedy, and ruthless phantoms had been completely extinguished.

Grace Holloway stood up straight, smoothing her messy hair, and offered a soft, genuine smile to Ethan and his niece. She was no longer a poor maid counting pennies to open a bakery, nor a ghost hiding from her past. She had found a place where her lethal skills were used to protect the most precious thing in the world: the smile of a child. And as the powerful billionaire looked at her with eyes overflowing with boundless gratitude and profound admiration, a brilliant, peaceful new chapter was truly just beginning.
