Chapter 7

The impact was a sickening, hollow crack that echoed over the soft gasps of the assembled guests. The sheer force of the mid-air taekwondo kick lifted Sabrina Vale entirely off her feet. The elegant facade of the billionaire's fiancée was violently shattered in a fraction of a second.
Sabrina crashed heavily onto the hard marble floor. Her beautiful, off-shoulder silk ivory gown tangled around her legs, tearing at the seams. The heavy diamond necklace at her throat snapped from the whiplash, sending a dozen glittering stones scattering across the polished stone like dropped ice.
She landed hard on her side, gasping wildly for air, her perfectly styled blonde hair falling in a ruined, chaotic mess over her face. She groaned in deep, authentic pain, clutching her jaw as she rolled onto her back.
As Sabrina hit the floor, her grip on the weapon failed. The syringe, filled with the clear, heavy sedative, slipped from her manicured fingers. It hit the marble with a sharp clatter and rolled rapidly across the floor, stopping exactly at the polished black leather shoes of Ethan Caldwell.
The entire ballroom froze in a state of cinematic realism. The music stopped abruptly. There were no exaggerated screams, no cartoon-like gasps—only the heavy, collective intake of breath from a hundred shocked guests. The silence was absolute, heavy, and pregnant with tension.
Ethan stood frozen between the two women, his dark navy suit pristine amidst the sudden chaos. He looked down at the ruined woman on the floor, his handsome face registering profound shock.
Sabrina looked up, her chest heaving. She spat a mouthful of blood onto the pristine floor. She pointed a shaking, manicured finger at Grace, tears of pain and fury streaming down her fair skin.
"Ethan..." Sabrina gasped, groaning in agony as she forced the words through her swelling jaw. "She’s crazy! Arrest her!"
Grace landed flawlessly from her jump kick, her athletic frame absorbing the impact as her shoes hit the marble. Her black-and-white maid uniform was perfectly intact, her brown bun slightly loosened but still neat. She did not strike a fighting pose; instead, she stood tall, her breathing steady and controlled, her eyes fixed solely on the syringe.
Ethan’s gaze followed Grace’s intense stare. He looked down at his feet.
The close-up of Ethan’s face revealed a terrifying shift in emotion. The billionaire’s rosy skin turned instantly pale. The muscles in his jaw ticked as his eyes focused on the medical needle lying on the floor. It wasn't a diabetic pen; it was a heavy-duty syringe, fully loaded with a clear, viscous fluid.
He looked from the syringe up to his fiancée, his mind rapidly replaying the last few seconds. He had seen Sabrina lunging at Lily. He had seen the maid intervene.
Ethan’s hands began to shake slightly. His breathing grew shallow as the horrific truth began to tear through his manufactured reality.

"Sabrina..." Ethan whispered, his voice trembling with a mixture of shock, betrayal, and rising horror. He took a half-step backward. "...what is that?"
Sabrina’s eyes widened in panic. She opened her mouth to formulate a lie, to spin the narrative, but before she could speak, a small, clear voice cut through the heavy silence of the ballroom.
